Art that’s gone to the fishes. Literally.

Aquavista AquariumAquavista AquariumThey say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well behold, here's something you may or not find beautiful. But it's surely unique.

Take a look. What do you see? Pictures, right? Well, sort of. These are actually wall mounted aquariums. Now personally, I find aquariums beautiful, but too much of a pain in the you-know-what to own. With all the filters and cleaning and what not. But the Acquavista 500 has taken the aquarium to different level of art. And it's making me rethink the old fish tank.

The AquaVista 500 is a patent-pending wall-mounted aquarium for freshwater tropical fish that is designed to hang like a picture with frame. It comes with your choice of 15 classic wood and plastic modern frames to choose and six bright sea and water life Backgrounds.

Aquavista BlueAquavista BlueThe Aquavista 500 technology is completly computer controlled and comes with filter, heater, overhead lighting system and water pumps. The aquarium technology (filtration, heater, lighting, display panel, etc.) is built into the system, so you do not need to worry about complex set up or instructions. The embedded LCD control display panel allows you to control and monitor filtration, temperature, oxygen, and lighting. The AquaVista 500 measures 26 inches (h) x 26 inches (w) x 4.5 inches (d) and holds approximately 25 liters or 6.6 U.S. gallons of freshwater. If you like it you can check it out here .

BiorbBiorbAnother aquarium I found that looks more like a piece of art is the biOrb. It comes in either a 8 gallon or 16 gallon capacity. The biOrb combines the looks of a traditional fish bowl with the performance of a 'hi-tech" aquarium. The biOrb's filtration system and light unit incorporated to provide an unobstructed view from 360 degrees. It is manufactured from Plexiglas acrylic.

Best of all, it is low maintenance! The unique multistage filtration system (biological, mechanical and chemical) can keep the water clean for up to 8 weeks. If you like it, you can buy it here.

Plasmaquarium DVDPlasmaquarium DVDLast but not least, for those of us too lazy or tired to take care of fish (me), the Plasmaquarium Aquarium DVD. It's essentially a DVD you play on your plasma TV (or any TV you have, but looks the best on a plasma). The Plasmaquarium DVD features 9 different aquariums packed with dozens of saltwater and freshwater fish, tropical fish, eel, koi and a shark tank. You get the benefit of a beautiful aquarium without all the work for a fraction of the cost. Its a win, win, win situation. If you like it, you can buy it here.

Picture Perfect

I can't imagine the tanks staying as clean and clear as in the pictures. This seems like another good idea at face value, but much less appealing once it is put into use. Filters can only do so much, plus the water would need to be refreshed and tested periodically, which would probably be a difficult task considering how the tanks are situated.

I can also envision water drip marks on the walls. I have two aquariums and like fish, but doubt very much that I would even consider buying a "wall unit".

No drips here

I own Aquavista 500 myself. I was skeptical at first, but it has been on my wall for 5 months now. I love it so much. There is no water drip marks on my wall and taking care of it is a breeze. My tank is still as clear as the first day when i got it. It took me 5 minutes every month to clean the tank. What was cool is that i get all the accessories too. Being lazy feels good.
