Ever watched the Design Squad? Design Squad is a kids program on PBS consisting of 8 young engineers. As a team these young engineers take on engineering challenges for an actual client such as Ikea. There are 13 episodes per season. In the final episode the top two contestants compete, "for the Grand Prize-a $10,000 college scholarship from the Intel® Foundation".

This year Design Squad is looking for new contestants for the 2008 Trash To Treasure Competition. The contest begins April 1st and registration is open to contestants between the ages of 5-19.

What is Design Squad asking from its contestants? They want their young contestants to, "recycle, reuse, and re-engineer everyday materials into an out-of-the-box invention." This green invention should: move things or people, protect the environment or have the ability to be used for indoor or outdoor play.

The grand prize winner will win $10,000, A DellTM laptop powered by Intel® and a trip to Boston to see your design built. In addition 4 finalists will receive DellTM laptops powered by Intel®. The winning design will also appear on the Design Squad show or Web site!

For more information on Design Squad, a glimpse of their past challenges and/or submission guidelines visit the Design Squad website . If want to become a contestant click on their link to register. Then enter your design online from April 1 to June 30, 2008.
