2015 Smart ForTwo Brabus: Brainy Gets Brawny

Drivers of Daimler-Benz's cute two-passenger Smart cars are about to be taken a LOT more seriously – that is, if they upgrade to the upcoming 2015 Smart ForTwo Brabus.

A third more horsepower and much more muscular body panels oughta keep other cars from kicking sand in their faces. Maybe DB should call it the Charles Atlas Edition.

Currently undergoing testing and only minimally disguised, the 2015 Smart ForTwo Brabus is a brawnier beast both in appearance and where the rubber meets the road. It's definitely not to be confused with previous Brabus editions that were little more than sporty accessory packages.

The most important change takes place under the hood – make that beneath the rear engine cover. The third-generation Smart ForTwo features one of two 3-cylinder gasoline engines: a 1.0-liter engine producing 71HP or a turbocharged 0.9-liter (898 cc) engine rated at 89HP. Both are competent mills though nobody would call their performance inspiring.

The Smart ForTwo Brabus will blow either of those out of the water, delivering as much as 120 HP courtesy of an extensively massaged 3-cylinder 0.9-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. That's a lot of ponies in a very small stable!

Expect a number of undisclosed but relevant suspension mods to complement the 33% power boost, plus a beefier set of rims and rubber. From the looks of it, 2015 is going to be a strong year for the Smart ForTwo. (via World Car Fans)
