Alien Umbilical Cord iPhone Charger: Slick Or Sick?
This call may be re-corded... now your iPhone can be too! Japanese artist Mio I-zawa has humanized those bland, inanimate power cables used to charge iPhones and other personal electronic devices. Thanks, Mio, for answering a question nobody (in their right mind) would think to ask.
Check out this short video to see the "Umbilical Cord for iPhone" in all its spastic fantastic glory:
The cord appears to be about 2 feet (60cm) long and approximates the kinked shape and pinky-blue veined appearance of every baby's pre-natal lifeline to mama. One end plugs into a wall outlet or power bar while the other flares out like a hungry python's head to grip your iPhone and ensure it stays connected to the charging port. This is important because I-zawa has "improved" the basic function of an umbilical cord by making his version jerk about like the chest-busting creature from Alien.
Those who have seen I-zawa's pulsating fleshy cable - not that one, this one - have described it as something out of the prescient 1983 sci-fi horror thriller Videodrome.
Maybe James Woods and Debbie Harry could star some promotional clips if the disturbing device should ever make it to retail store shelves... in some bizarre alternate reality. Long live the new flesh! (via Pink Tentacle and Geekologie)
