Aston Martin and Toyota Team Up to Rebadge the iQ

Aston Martin is known for making some of the most powerful and luxurious vehicles to ever hit the market. Unfortunately being produced in small numbers has put them out of reach for most people. A recent partnering with Toyota however, may bring the Aston Martin nameplate into reach for many new car buyers.

Based on the Toyota iQ, Aston Martin's Cygnet Concept vehicle will be a more luxury based commuter vehicle that offers additional amenities inside and a complete restyling on the outside. A small increase in power is also likely to accompany the interior and exterior modifications.

In the recent press release Dr. Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive of Aston Martin, said the plan was "to apply Aston Martin design language, craftsmanship and brand values to a completely new segment of the market."  The current price estimate is to the tune of $33,000.

Many have also speculated that this decision was also brought about by the recent shift in emissions rules. Whatever the reason, Dr. Bez is confident the new concept will be ready for showroom floors in the not so distant future. Either way, if the Cygnet reaches the production stage, it will undoubtedly change the way people see Aston Martin and the Toyota iQ alike.
