Boomer The T-Rex Is Exactly The Robotic Pet You Need
Science may not be at the point when it can provide us with real pet dinosaurs just yet (give it time...), but it's certainly reached the stage where we can be gifted the next-best thing: an adorable little baby T-Rex robot that bumbles around chomping on whatever it can fit into its tiny little jaws. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Boomer.
Created by toy inventor Never Ben and his team, Boomer's still in the prototype stages, so I'm afraid you won't be able to buy him just yet. Currently, he's able to express basic emotions, sit and speak on command, and chomp down on 'food' when he notices it. Oh, he also gets pretty angry when you tug on his tail. Once you get a Boomer model of your very own, you should probably avoid doing that; it seems like kind of a bad idea. Anyway, watch the video above, and tell me it isn't one of the cutest things you've ever seen.
I dare you.
Currently, there's no release date for a mass-produced version of Boomer, nor has Never Ben set a price for the little guy just yet. All we know at the moment is that Boomer's targeted release date is Fall 2014. We'll probably find out more about the pricing details then. All I know is that this is one robot I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on, and not just because it showcases many of the advances we've made in artificial intelligence over the past few years.
No...it's because I want one for myself. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Again, look at him. What's not to love?
