Every major auto show has that 1 car that is at center stage. For the British Motor Show, that could very well be the new Lotus Eagle. Although there is already a fair amount known about the car, people are still very anxious to see the revealing of the newest addition to the Lotus family.
The reason for all the hype is that this will be the first new Lotus to enter production in over 13 years. The first look will be on July 22 when the British Motor Show opens for press coverage. The layout of the new Eagle will be a 2+2 sports coupe. Sources have said that it will be powered by a modified version of the 3.5 liter V6 currently found in the Camry. Stock, the engine produces 268 horsepower and 248 ft/lbs of torque.
The powerplant will be offered in both a naturally-aspirated version as well as a turbocharged edition. Lotus is planning to replace the Esprit which ended production in 2004. The Eagle will be offered above the Exige, Elise and the Europa. It has also been confirmed that the new Lotus will be using the latest in lightweight technology. Lotus has been developing lighter and sturdier components for the Elise family of vehicles and that technology will make its way into the new Eagle. All that's left to do is wait till the 22nd and have a look.
