Calling All Kid Inventors: First Lego League Wants You!
FirstLego® League (FLL®) is calling for all young inventors between the ages of 9 and 16 (9 and 14 years old in the U.S. and Canada) to compete for the New Global Innovation Award presented by the X Prize Foundation. Kid teams will compete for the opportunity to win a cash reward of $20,000 that would go towards patent and development costs for their new invention.
FLL introduces young children to engineering challenges, as they build robots out of Legos to complete various tasks. These activities give kids opportunities to learn critical thinking and apply math and science concepts as they design their 'must-have' robots. The teams are guided by adult coaches.
The winner of the Global Innovation Award will be voted on by the public. There are contestants that have already posted their ideas, as they continue to work on them. The deadline for submissions is March 4, 2011 at 5:00 PM EST. If you are persistent, you will find all the information you need on this website.
