Caseboard: Electric Skateboard That Folds Into A Case

If you're looking for an efficient and green mode of transportation, you'll want to check out some of the newest electric bikes, boards and scooters. If you want to take efficiency a step further and get something that's easy to carry around, you'll want to check out the Caseboard--a foldable, electric skateboard.

Electric And Foldable

Caseboard is essentially a longboard, with a motor, that can be folded. Of course, with the motor, it requires less effort than a longboard, and it is less cumbersome than a bike. This makes it a great option for the urban commuter. Avoid traffic jams and the war that is parking in a city, by just gliding down the sidewalks on your Caseboard. And the folding feature makes the board easy to carry around after you've reached your destination.

Caseboard features state of the art electronics, a 500w brushless motor that will reach speeds around 21mph and a 36v lithium ion battery. The battery takes about 3-4 hours to charge and can travel up to 18.5 miles on a single charge. That's plenty of juice to get you to work or the park or to just allow you to run errands.

Additional Perks

Not only will Caseboard send you flying through the streets, alleys and sidewalks, it can climb hills effectively. The board will tame hills up to a 12% gradient. And if you're going downhill a little faster than you'd like, the regenerative brakes will not only slow you down, but they constantly work to recharge the battery.

Caseboard is controlled by a rechargeable, wireless 2.4G hand controller. The hand controller features a 5 bar battery indicator, so you can keep track of your battery's charge, forward and reverse modes, fast and slow speed settings, a speedometer, LED lights, a horn and brakes.

Both Caseboard and remote employ automatic shut-off switches. If you forget to turn them off, Caseboard will shut-off in 5 minutes and the remote will shut-off in 3. This keeps your battery kicking. Also, if the remote is more than 15 away from the board, Caseboard will go into braking mode as a safety precaution.

Caseboard also features its own app. While the app won't let you control the board, it will give you live 3D maps, checkpoints and a compass. It also features social sharing and support.

If you're reading all of these perks and thinking, "Man, I gotta have one of these," then you can visit the Epic Skateboards site and order one. While Caseboard isn't cheap, since it is electric and green, it will only cost you about $5 a year to use it, so in the end you're getting a very effective and affordable means of travel.
