Cat Ear Headband Is Purr-fect For J-Pop Joggers

Leave it to Thanko, Japan's king of USB gadgets & gizmos, to come out with a furry pink cat-eared headband and headphone combo.

The unisex (well, why not?) device comes in your choice of black or white with pink trim. The 3.5mm plug fits MP3 and other music players, portable CD players and Walkmans. At just 60 grams (2 ounces) they're lightweight and Thanko backs up their quality with a 6 month warranty.

But you don't care about all that, right? These are CAT EAR HEADPHONES! Even if you only wear them once at Halloween they're worth the 1,980 yen (about $20) price.

Called "Nekomimi" (literally, Cat Ear) in Japanese, the headphones are ideal for cosplay fans and otaku geekettes who want to drown out the constant Oohs and Ahhs emanating from jealous admirers. It's certain that every basement-dwelling nerd on the planet would love for their girlfriend to wear them... that makes 2 fantasies for 1 product.

Thanko shows the Nekomimi being worn by a model wearing a maid uniform for some not-so-strange reason and unfortunately it's more Victorian than French, if you get my gist.

Thanko marketing wizards, take note: otaku geeks do love maids but you should aim to get potential buyers arou- er, excited about the product. Also, the furry ears may help boost radio reception but you should add wee paws for station identification. (via TokyoMango and BoingBoing Gadgets)
