It is a big step when kids graduate from sitting in the high chair to
having a spot at the family table. The novelty of being at the big table may keep them there for a little while, but soon after they have a tendency to start wandering. This is a very irritating issue at home, but can be even more trying when you are out at restaurants. At least at home you can threaten some form of punishment, but when you are out the options are limited, especially if you are trying to avoid making a scene.
Chalkboard Placemats may help hold your child’s attention, at least until dinner arrives. These fun mats come with a special pocket to hold chalk and the eraser. They are sold in sets of four (red, blue, yellow and green trim) and come with 12 sticks of chalk and an eraser. They would work equally well at home, out at a restaurant or at a friend’s house and, unlike the paper and crayons that some restaurants supply, the placemats can be wiped clean and used over and over again.
