Advertising is literally everywhere, including on escalators. It seems that many products can use the unique features of escalators to their marketing advantage. Since ad ad can only be successful if it can grab your attention and make a statement, here are 8 escalators ads that I thought successful:
1. Stabilo Highlighters
To capture the long-lasting ability of Stabilo highlighters, giant pens were installed at the beginning of escalators throughout Hong Kong. As the steps continually moved forwards, the pen appeared to create the bright yellow safety marks on the side of the steps – non-stop from morning to night.

2. Hopihari Theme Parks
This ads asks you to "Have Fun at the Hopi Hari Rollercoaster". Seeing the constant stream of new faces having fun is surely an attention grabber.

3. Duracell
To help show the long lasting power of the battery, a visual display attracts your attention as you look to step on the escalator.

4. HP Photosmart
The escalator is representing the printer continually printing out paper. Print and print and print and print and ...

5. Consol Energy
This ad reminds us that "America would have 50% less electricity if our coal miners didn't make this trip every day." Consol Energy. America's On Switch.

6. Film Festival
The film reels using the handrails as film are being used to run the escalator and reminding visitors that a film festival is happening.

7. Hyundai
These are images of Hyundai Santa Fe and Tuscan models that go up the rough terrain on the escalators in Istanbul’s Ataköy Atrium Shopping Mall.
It’s a promotion entitled 4X4 Pleasure.

8. Carlsberg Table Soccer
This campaign was used to promote the first international table soccer world cup. Flyers shaped like real table soccer figures were posted on handrails all around the city of Hamburg (Germany), which hosted the event.

What do you think of advertising on escalators? Would these ads caught your attention? Any products that you can think of that would benefit from the constant energy and rotation of escalators?

Cool Subversive
Very nice set of ads, where are they from (besides the first one which is from Hong Kong). I could swear I've seen a couple of those - maybe it was online, although that roller coaster one and the battery seem familiar.
And just for information sake, the coal mine was is talking about a recent flurry of activity regarding global warming, where this study showed that coal plants emit a lot of pollution that is disastrous to human health and could be easily avoided by having nuclear power plants or solar, or wind or even turbine. So in retaliation coal plants have gone on the offensive and are trying to promote the fact that they employ thousands, and trying to downplay the fact that there have been so many miners trapped in the mines.
So in they basically make them out to be heroes, "they go down to the mines, so that you don't have to" - and "we get more energy from this, so risk your health as well as the miners for that extra 40% of energy".
