Kyoto Laundry Service wants to make your life easier, or at least, more interesting than sitting in a laundromat watching your clothes go round and round and rou... where was I?
Anyway, treating the washing machine like a TV is no way to go through life, son (or daughter), though the programs can be much more interesting.
KLS has a better idea: leave the washing to them while you stretch your legs surveying the street scene. Your clothes will be just fine and if they need you, they'll call you – or at least, the washing machine will.
KLS's “Hello Call” service puts the washer in touch with your mobile phone, allowing you to monitor the progress of your laundry from a remote location. It's like something out of Futurama, only 990 years early! The key word is “monitor”, as the system does much more than just sound a tone when the wash cycle ends.
Does your washer need more detergent? “Rrrrring!” Time to add fabric softener? “Rrrrrrrrrrring!!” Is the machine suffering a major malfunction and smoking like a forest fire? “Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring!!!”
Erm, maybe you'd better just stay put and shop for dinner later on. Besides, “As The World Turns” is on! (via Akky Akimoto, images via KLS)
