A Portable Stereo Speaker That Actually Has Some Style: The Genelec 6000A - Tube

True audiophiles will know that Finnish sound systems company Genelec has been making great quality woofers and subs for years with a concerted emphasis on out-of-the-box design.  Security personnel will know Genelec for the pure pickup of its 'active monitoring' systems that make the smallest whisper distinguishable to the listener.  But now, Genelec has brought its technology to the humble desktop... and with great style.

No boring boxes to broadcast sound from your computer, TV, or iPad.  No, nothing so banal.

The Genelec 6000A - Tube  transports Genelec's vast technical knowledge to the realm of portable electronics. With the help of Finnish industrial designer Harri Koskinen, who has worked with Genetec on several projects, the Tube makes a unique design statement and and audible sensation.  A small speaker with a big sound.

Space is not an issue.  Believe it or not, the Tube enjoys being surrounded by obstacles, such as walls or furniture.  Sound just fills whatever space is available effortlessly. The Genelec 6000A - Tube will be on display at the New Finnish Design SCENARIOS in New York City, May 12-17,2011.

If you cannot make the show and are interested in knowing where you can find the Genelec 6000A - Tube outside of Japan and Finland, contact Genelec through its Contact Us page.

Harri is also Finnish

Thanks for the article. Just to correct that Harri Koskinen is as Finnish as the Genelec company itself, nothing Japanese about him.
