This is for all the girls and women out there. Ever dreamt of designing your own clothes, and wearing your creations?
I know I did. In fact I would spend hours doodling on pieces of paper to create that ‘perfect' dress. Sadly, I could never translate my imagination into a dress, nor could I find a tailor who would.
Imagine This , a New York-based company has launched a product called Designer's Portfolio which shall help every girl realize her dreams of being a fashion designer. Now she can actually design her own clothes.
The Designer's Portfolio includes everything a young designer needs to begin the process, including fabric swatches, pencils, sketchpad, and a questionnaire for her and her parents to capture the details. Girls can choose from swatches of organza, taffeta, charmeuse, chiffon, and other fabrics to decide on the ideal material. Next the design has to be created, then follows collaboration with a professional New York City fashion designer, who will translate the vision into a one-of-a-kind garment. The professional and amateur designers will consult on color, fabric, and fit to ensure a perfect rendering of the little girls dream design. For the finishing touch, a custom label, named and designed by the young designer, will be hand-sewn into the one-of-a-kind garment.
It usually takes 1-2 weeks for delivery of the Designer's Portfolio and a further 8 weeks from the time of approval of design for delivery of garment.
The company can also arrange a professional photo shoot in New York or Los Angeles for a budding designer to show off her creation. But then what are moms and dads and doting relatives with cameras in hand for?
The Designers' Portfolio retails for $895 at web stores like fao.com.
