Since time immemorial humanity has seeking to beautify the self, by applying paint to bodies, using jewelry and make up. In those days, this was an index of social statute. Time has passed, but not much has changed! We still like to wear jewelry, and we still paint out bodies calling it either tattoo, make up or body art. One would have thought there is nothing left to invent in this realm! Well, there actually is!
Designer Yu-Chiao Wang has come up with the idea of a Sun Tattoo. It is actually a 'wearable' cloth stencil - a robe, with a specific pattern. It requires staying long enough in the sun or having a good use of UV rays to leave on the skin a beautiful tattoo. The stencil covers only a part of your body allowing sun to hit certain areas.
Says Wang: "Sun Tattoo is a soft stencil which can be used for making the tattoo pattern on the skin by sunshine. It's better to use it with sunless tanning cream."
Of course I would not want to endorse tanning since for the most part it is dangerous but if you're one who can't stay away from the sun and have a flair for the unusual, you might like this.

My Grandfather Did This
Submitted on December 7th, 2008 by AnonymousWhen I was in high school, my grandfather, who grew up in Death Valley, told me a story about when he was a teenager in the 1930s that was a lot like this. He and his pals would use tape or cloth to make a pattern, usually a girl's name or something of that nature, and go outside without a shirt.
Usually alcohol played no small role.
BS
Submitted on December 7th, 2008 by AnonymousWon't work. There used to be women's swimsuits that had a little heart cut out on the hip. The result? A small blotch of suntan that didn't look like a heart.
As the other commenter said, it would have to be taped to the skin for it to work. The photo on the right is either Photoshopped or he used a spray gun with "instant tan" in it.
