Hearts Filigree Goose
Ron Cheruka, a.k.a. “The Egg Man”, makes beautiful sculptures out of - yep, you guessed it – eggshells!
Modern Fireman
For over 25 years, he’s been carving these eggshells by hand, using a NSK Dental Lab hand piece and Dental burs. He used to attend many craft and fine art shows, and the response from the public was mostly astonishment. Being ex-Green Beret and ex-Trucker, many people were surprised that this guy is the one that carved these delicate treasures.
Mermaid
Ron started out by obtaining a modified dentist drill and was told that it was probably delicate enough to engrave an egg. Shortly after that, he found he could engrave an eggshell and started in on filigree and sculpting.
8pt Buck
His artwork is for sale on his website, and the prices are pretty good for owning something unique in your home. He even does custom requests, so if you want to get a portrait of yourself engraved on an egg, you can. But wait in line, me first!
Rose and Heart
He even does portraits of famous people:
Barack Obama
Dale Earnhardt Jr
Emu Spiral Dome
Spiral in Spiral
If you want to learn how to carve egg shells on your own, The Egg Man offers three-day classes at his showroom in Virginia. Hmm, sounds like it might be time to take a road trip. These would make a great gift for Easter.
Overall, his artwork is Eggs-cellent. Eggs-xactly accurate? Eggs-citing? How about an eggs-plosion of fun? Okay, I’ll stop now. Enjoy!
