Remember those egg cups your grandmother made you use whenever you had your eggs? The ones we had at home were silver and looked like tiny cups molded to fit the contours of a hard-boiled egg perfectly. They were fine to look at but personally, a chore to use. (As a child, I preferred to stuff the whole thing into my mouth, thank you very much. Unfortunately, my grandma never approved.)
Of course, I don't use those things anymore. Besides, I prefer scrambled eggs. Anyhow, Silicone Zone wants to change the way you enjoy your eggs with their newest line of Egg Chairs.
These tiny, colorful egg cups are by designer Anima Dominica who has set out to change how you seat your eggs--and eat them, too.
Unlike the traditional egg cups of the past, they do more than just hold your egg in place. These are made of silicon materials and can withstand a temperature range from -50°C to 300°C. It's also microwave and oven safe, as well as freezer safe. (But I can't think of a reason why you'd want to put an egg in the freezer.) It's also dishwasher safe, so clean-up is a breeze as well.
As I've said before, these aren't my cup of tea but considering its
functionality, I might reconsider. My nephews and nieces simply enjoy
their eggs the hard-boiled way, and sometimes, they don't always get up
on time for school. I help out my sister sometimes prepare their breakfasts and by the time they drag themselves out of bed and taken a shower, the eggs are as cold as the early morning weather. With the Egg Chair, you can simply pop the entire thing (chair with the egg and all) and give it a quick spin in the microwave. And voila: you've got a warmed egg again.
Here are its specifications from Silicone Zone:
- Oven Safe – Achieve excellent baking performance
- Microwave Safe – Ready steady for cooking, reheating and defrosting.
- Non-Stick – Especially designed for easy release of pastry.
- Dishwasher Safe – Good for convenient and efficient clean up.
- Freezer Safe – Able to be filled with any ingredients until perfectly chilled or frozen.
The Egg Chair is still in production though so you might have to wait a while before you can get your hands on these goodies.
