Fitbug Orb: The Most Affordable Activity Tracker

FitBug OrbFitBug Orb

There are a ton of activity trackers (or fitness trackers) on the market now. It is a billion dollar market and expected to double in the next year. The Fitbug Orb is one of those activity trackers, and it has set itself apart from the rest by being more affordable than the rest.

Of course, it has just about all of the capabilities as the other more expensive activity trackers. It counts steps, tracks sleep, estimates calories burned, lets you enter calories consumed and workouts the device doesn't recognize, uploads all of this data to your Fitbug account and has an electronic fitness coach. However, it will run you about $50, whereas most other activity trackers will cost you anywhere from $100-$300. The Fitbug Orb is also designed to be worn as a watch/bracelet (like most other activity trackers), clipped onto clothing or worn as a necklace, and it is powered with a watch battery that can last up to six months.

The Fitbug Orb does have its downfalls. For starters, it isn't waterproof, so you can't wear it in the shower or while swimming. It is splash resistant, however, so your sweat won't bother it. Also, a lot of other activity trackers offer a 30-60 day window for you to try the device out and return it if you don't like it. The window for returns for the Fitbug Orb is only a week. Perhaps the biggest downfall is that you'll have to pay a monthly subscription for a Fitbug account, so you may think it better paying a little more upfront and getting an activity tracker with a free app.

If you decide, in the end that you want to give the Fitbug Orb a try, it comes in three colors (black, pink and white) and, like I said, will run you about $50. You can order a Fitbug Orb through the Fitbug website or on Amazon. It may be well worth your while and money to give the Orb a try for a week.
