Florida Company to Make Plug-In Porsche
Making an electric sports car that is just as much fun to drive as the traditional sports car is no easy task. So far, only a handful has managed to accomplish this, with names like Fiskar and Tesla coming to mind. A small company out of Florida has taken a different approach to this problem and come up with a promising solution.
By taking a vehicle that is already performance based, and replacing the drivetrain with an electric propulsion system, EvPorsche is able to provide an exhilarating driving experience that is accompanied by zero emissions and a low cost to operate.
For example, if you were to order a new electric Porsche 911, the sprint to 60mph would only take about 5 seconds, thanks to 1200 lb/ft of torque from the electric motor. The only real drawback is a limited range estimated to be in the area of 50 miles per charge.
EvPorsche is also able to convert other exotics such as Jaguar, Rolls-Royce and BMW. They have also become quite efficient at dropping a Lamborghini Murcielago body onto a Porsche frame, if you would like an electric Lamborghini that is.
The price for the electric 911 starts at just under $50,000 while the others get more expensive depending on the model and work involved.
