Forget The Swiss Army Knife And Wear Your Tools With The Leatherman Tread

The Wearable ToolThe Wearable Tool

It's always handy to have a multi-tool, like the Swiss Army Knife, around. However, most are bulky and have to be transported in a case or your pocket. The Leatherman Tread is the first of its kind--a multi-tool that can be worn on the wrist.

Leatherman Tool Group Inc. will release the Leatherman Tread, a wearable multi-tool, this summer, and my guess is that outdoor enthusiasts will be chomping at the bit to get one. No more toting a bulky multi-tool knife around.

Each corrosion resistant, stainless steel link on the Leatherman Tread will feature two to three tools, making 25 features available to you. The features include box wrenches, screwdrivers, hex drives, a bottle opener, cutting hook, carbide glass breaker and a #2 square drive, just to name a few.

The President of the Leatherman Tool Group, Ben Rivera, developed the idea for the Leatherman Tread after a trip to Disneyland with his family.

"I was stopped at the gate by security for carrying a knife, when what they had actually seen was my Skeletool," Rivera said. "I was unwilling to give it up, so they made me take it all the way back to my hotel room. I knew there had to be another way to carry my tools with me that would be accepted by security."

Thus was born the Leatherman Tread. This bracelet is crafted to allow users to rearrange links, add new ones or adjust for wrist size. Even the clasp is functional on the Leatherman Tread (the site of the bottle opener and #2 square drive.
