Get Your Gallic On: Frito-Lay Japan Introduces Doritos Gourmet Garlic & Sea Treasure Tortilla Chips

Frito-Lay Japan's new Doritos Gourmet Garlic & Sea Treasure Tortilla Chips evoke the rich flavor of classic French bouillabaisse served with grilled garlic bread. It's a taste you'll treasure, albeit for a limited time only.

Though bouillabaisse – a traditional Provençal fish stew from the French Mediterranean port city of Marseille – isn't expressly mentioned either on the bag or at Frito-Lay Japan's new snacks site, the graphics prominently feature a long-handled earthenware cook pot brimming with assorted sea foods. It's really quite  bouillabaisse-like.

The savory scene also features succulent shrimp, clams, and more than a couple of garlic cloves. For those who weren't aware, bouillabaisse is traditionally served accompanied by rouille: grilled slices of French bread slathered with mayonnaise made from olive oil, garlic, saffron and cayenne pepper.

Sure, it sounds delish but ain't nobody got time for that... or so Frito-Lay would like you to believe. Instead of going through the whole rigmarole, simply grab an 80-gram (2.82oz) bag of Doritos Gourmet Garlic & Sea Treasure Tortilla Chips!

One can do exactly that come August 25th when Doritos Gourmet Garlic & Sea Treasure Tortilla Chips are set to be released nationwide (the nation being Japan and Japan only, by the way). As Frito-Lay Japan, puts it, “Please enjoy the encounter of the miracle of the grace of the sea and garlic,” but don't wait to late to do it – these Gallic garlic gourmet tortilla chips are a limited edition release only sold through November 3rd of 2014.
