Get Paid To Lose Weight, Work Out, And Eat Veggies

Pact is an awesome new smartphone app that helps you earn money for living healthy. It is designed to help you stick to your commitments to stay in shape, eat more veggies, and log your meals, perfect for those New Years Resolutions.

How does it work?

First you have to make a weekly pact to exercise, log your meals, or eat vegetables, or a combination of all three. Then you need pledge an amount you are willing to pay other members if you fail to reach your goal - anywhere from $5-10 dollars.

At the end of each week, you are rewarded for each day you reached your goal with anywhere from 30 cents to 5 dollars per week.

For every day you didn't reach your goal, your pledge amount gets deducted from your paypal account to be distributed amongst other members. (The amount you pledged won't influence your rewards, so the amount you choose is for personal motivation only.)

How much do I have to do to complete a Pact?

Make a Gym Pact and you'll have to complete a gym workout, run, bike ride over 30 minutes, or 10,000 steps in a day. Make a Food Pact and you have to log your meals with MyFitnessPal integration. Make a Veggie Pact and you'll need to snap photographs of the vegetables you are eating so the community can verify you are reaching your goals.

How do they measure activities?

GPS check ins, photographs and integrations with RunKeeper, Jawbone UP, Fitbit, Moves, MapMyFitness and MyFitnessPal are some of the ways Pact uses to verify your actions, and they go to great lengths to ensure things like photographs were actually taken from your phone in the previous week, but it's not cheat proof. However the effort involved in faking actions is probably worth the reward at the end of the week.

No one likes losing money, and everyone likes making money, so it's definitely a super incentive. Plus this app is finally making use of the various gizmos and gadgets we buy and wear on our wrists but get bored of otherwise, but it still requires effort to log, photograph and check in your activities.

If you are already tracking your food and workouts, and want to be more disciplined about it, then great, but I'm still waiting for the day when everything is being tracked for me, seamlessly, and I'm just making money for being awesome (i.e healthy).

Pact is available in 75+ countries, on iPhone and Android, so you've no excuse not to download the app now and start earning hard cash for those New Years Resolutions.

Have you tried it? What do you think?
