Get Ready For Some SNES Gaming WIth The SupaBoy

Gear up for the SupaBoy Portable Pocket SNES Console because it's coming to you very, very soon. A release date hasn't been set yet but Hyperkin has announced that it is already in its prototyping stage.

Now you can crack open those boxes in your attic and take out those SNES cartridges from long ago and play your favorite games once more. In the United States, the SupaBoy will be able to run your old Famicon games but a PAL release for the device is yet to be announced.

The SupaBoy supports multi-player and you can choose to play your games on the 3.5-inch display or hook it up to your television set for some serious gaming. It's cool that Hyperkin has managed to fit the entire SNES console into a single decently sized controller. (If you can still recall, those SNES consoles weren't exactly compact gadgets.)

Here are some specs for the SupaBoy (based on their working prototype):

  • Screen size (diagonal): 3.5 inches
  • 5.5 Hours battery life (tested only once without sound)
  • Measures: 8.5 x 4 x 1.5 inches
  • Weight: 11.5 ounces
  • Stereo sound
  • AV Out
  • Headphone jack
  • Adjustable volume control
  • Innovative cartridge lock feature
  • Two seven-pin controller ports

It's slated for release in North America by Summer for $69.99. What do you think?
