"Glo" with the Flow of Modern Lighting

Bask in the "Glo"Bask in the "Glo"Marrying art and function isn't always easy. But award-winning, Italian designer Danilo de Rossi makes it appear as effortless as the effect of gravity on a drop of water in this cool suspension lamp.

One of his latest works, "Glo," brings light to life in what appears to be a suspended drop of water, forever destined to hover in its frozen form. These functional glass sculptures are reminiscent of a moment when time stops, when one holds their breath in anticipation of what's to come.

Just a drop in the ocean...Just a drop in the ocean..."Glo" is made from handblown glass in the Murano tradition, and includes a matching glass "puddle" to place beneath the suspended "drop." It comes in your choice of finish: smoked glass, cobalt blue, red, or a transparent light blue. Recessed or surface mountings are available to suspend the structure, and it is available in two sizes: 94 or 106 inches, weighing near 28 pounds. The illumination source is a MR16 halogen lamp, and it takes a 50W, 12 or 120V halogen bulb.

Now we can all bask in the "Glo" of one artist's concept of ultramodern lighting alternatives.

You can find this design and others similar at Leucos.
