Can grade school students build robots?
If you answered no, then you may be in for a surprise. A class of primary
school children at Princeton Friends School, which is based in the city of Princeton,
New Jersey, is doing just that. The school has even made it cost effective with
the help of a new 3D printer. The printer allows parts for the robots to be
made at a relatively inexpensive rate.
Children as young as 11 are participating
in the program, which allows students to design a d build a single bot. The
focus of the program is to help teach students about science and develop an
interest in them. Since the robots can take on a variety of forms, and
functions, they are attractive to both male and female students, allowing for
an under utilized segment of intellectual capitol to develop an early interest
in the technological sciences.
