GSM London Meets UK's IT Job Demand, Preparing Students For High-Level Careers

Technology and engineering occupations comprise six of the top ten categories of jobs in demand in the United Kingdom, according to CareerBuilder and Economic Modeling Specialists. With the competition for educated employees in the specialized field of IT, those that have completed a university level computer science degree will have a greater opportunity to secure a highly rewarding and lucrative career, post graduation.

Since the digital era kicked into high gear just about a decade ago, almost every company in every field has experienced a growing need for IT proficient professionals. So if you're thinking about venturing back to school, you might consider joining a program in software development which is the top most-in-demand type of position according to the techie blog, DashBurst.

In this YouTube video, technology luminaries such as Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg emphasize the current lack of computer science skills found at schools today in the U.S.

This issue is not as pressing in the United Kingdom, where schools such as GSM London have been preparing students for IT positions for some time now. Enrollees there can matriculate with a BSc (Hons) Computer Science degree that entails an extensive curriculum covering programming, software development, artificial intelligence and systems management, in addition to other course work that applies to business theory and practice.

GSM London is an independent school of higher education (accredited by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education) with locations in Greenwich and Greenford, where they offer 4 Modes of Study, with flexible start dates in February, June and Ocbober.

It's important to note, that both the two year and three year programs result in a full BSc (Hons) degree, and with successful completion, graduates can continue their studies to achieve a MBA or MSc degree, also offered at GSM London.

An applicant must be at least 18 years of age and as a minimum must have obtained one of the following:
  • Minimum 2 ‘A’ Level passes, grades A* - E.
  • A NQF Level 3 qualification (or an equivalent International qualification)
  • BTEC National Diploma or Certificate
  • Bachelor Extended Pathway (Year 0)
Tuition fees start at £6000 and the next open start date for full-time study is October, 2013. Interested parties can start the application process now by sending their completed GSM application, a CV, a photocopy of one's passport, copies of their qualifications, a previous school or employer reference and a £130 registration fee to admissions@gsm.org.uk
