Have Money to Burn? Pay $14,500 for Dessert

An award winning luxury Sri Lankan resort, The Fortress, in Galle has created a luxurious dessert called The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence. The decadent dessert comes with a heavy price tag - $14,500.

The Fortress is made out of gold leaf Italian kasata, flavoured with Irish cream and served with a mango and pomegranate compote. A bubbly-based sabayon forms the mouthwatering base of this delicious desert. The final and most distinctive touch on this dessert is the 80-carat aquamarine stone nestled on the handmade chocolate stilt fisherman.

The dessert is available by special request, although no one has ordered one yet. Its inspiration comes from the resort's logo of the stilt fisherman; a centuries old fishing practice that can still be seen along the Sri Lanka's coastline even today.
