Indoor Skeet Shooting Brings Firearms Inside

I'm not really a gun guy, but I've always found something attractive about skeet shooting. Perhaps it's the challenge of shooting a flying object, perhaps the reward of watching the clay disc shatter into a bazillion pieces, but the sport has always made me want to pick up a rifle.

Of course, I never actually wanted to try it so much that I'd go through the trouble of finding a range and leaving the comforts of my couch to go do it. But now that there's a version of the sport I can try in my own living room, I might just give 'er a go.

Interactive Toy Concepts debuted an indoor Skeet Shooter game at CES. Dumbest idea ever? Perhaps, but it's not quite as bad as you think; there's no bullets (real or fake) involved, and the gun shoots only infrared. Plastic discs are propelled via a disc-throwing machine and the shooter fires away at them. If they score a hit, the discs break apart just like the real thing--only these discs are designed to be reassembled.

I still can't see this working inside the house, what with ceilings, breakables and people around, but it sure sounds like a fun game. Kind of makes me wish I was seven years old again so that I could put this on next year's Christmas list without the embarassment that is sure to come when I put it on my list anyway. It is due out for next holiday season.

If you prefer more live targets, the company also offers a Duck Hunting game that it debuted last year.

Shotgun, not rifle

I guess you aren't a gun guy. Skeet shooting uses a shotgun, not a rifle!
