Instructables’s DIY Halloween Contest Includes Green Category
DIY contests are definitely increasing in popularity. This year Instructables has teamed up with many other crafty sites to bring you the 2008 DIY Halloween Contest. Contestants have had all year (since November 5th, 2007 until November 9th of this year) to send in their Halloween Instructable, photos, or videos.
If you don't know what Instructable is or what it is about, "Instructables is a web-based documentation platform where passionate people share what they do and how they do it, and learn from and collaborate with others."
Voting for the DIY Halloween Contest will begin: November 10, 2008 and end November 10, 2008. Judging will begin: November 17, 2008 and end: November 24, 2008. Some of the crafty sites and prize participants that Instructables has teamed up with are: BoingBoing, Core77, CRAFT, Etsy, Hack n Mod, IndyMogul, Lion Brand Yarn, MAKE, Toolmonger, Plaid, Ponoko, PopSci, Singer, ThinkGeek, and Threadbanger.
A contestant is allowed to enter more than once, but Instructable asks that contestants submit only their best work. There is a grand prize tech winner and a grand prize craft winner. Each grand prizewinner will receive hundreds of dollars in gift cards from the Maker Shed Store and Plaid Craft Express. Among the 8 categories available to participate in there is Green Halloween where contestants are encouraged to create something innovative out of recycled material for Halloween. The already submitted entries are fascinating. To take a look at the entries take a look here .
