Invention Of The Week? Zore-X Revolutionizes Firearm Safety

Okay all you gun owners, hold it right there.

A team of inventors based in Jerusalem, Israel, have just developed a unique cartridge-shaped lock that gives you quick access to your pistol and the device even offers tampering alerts.

Called Zore-X, this smart lock is probably the coolest gun storage device ever invented.

Own Your Gun

Zore-X, which will work on most semi-automatic guns, is armed with a locking button, unlocking dial, caliber specific locking unit, movement sensor and connects via wi-fi.

Its innovative electro-mechanical dial has been specially designed to allow for quick and easy unlocking in any circumstance, day or night. To unlock it all you need to do is turn its dial back and forth a few notches according to your pin code. And in just under two seconds your gun is unlocked.

According to its team of inventors, “Zore-X is a patented cartridge that connects you to your firearm. Zore-X is the fastest way to go from a locked firearm to disengaging and chambering a round and firing it. Zore-X will also notify you if your gun has been tampered with.”

Of course there is an even an app the works with this new technology and which means you will always be connected to your gun, or gun collection. The app allows you to set all sorts of notification profiles for a variety of situations. So, when your gun is stored and locked you will always receive gun-movement and dial-movement notifications instantly on your smartphone. Even better is that you can unlock your gun directly from the Zore-X app, but keep in mind that you can only lock it through its mechanical lock button.

Zore-X also offers a ‘trainer’ feature for your smartphone which helps ensure that you won't have any trouble unlocking your gun. The feature measures how long it takes for you to reach your gun and unlock it. That’s right, practice makes perfect.

The battery lasts for a year and the technology offers a number of notification features so you will always know when to replace it.

Zore-X To The Resuce

This new technology will certainly be a hit on the market among gun owners as firearm safety is a hot topic these days.

In 2013 there were nearly 50,000 unintentional firearm deaths worldwide and it’s becoming a growing problem across the United States.

At present there are well over two million children in the U.S. who live in homes with unsecured guns and nearly 1.7 million live in households with guns that are both loaded and unlocked, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  The CDC reports that between 2007 and 2011 “an average of 62 children age 14 and under were accidentally shot and killed each year.” The CDC also indicates that there were over 500 accidental gun deaths in 2013.

The good news is that Zore-X won’t put a huge dent in your pocket book. It retails for $199 (USD).

If you care about others and gun safety, then you really should purchase this technology.
