For those of you who weren’t able to fork over $599 for an iPhone, you now have a less expensive alternative. The new iPod Touch by Apple looks almost exactly the same as the hugely popular iPhone. The iPod Touch is made of the same scratch-resistant material, and its body is slightly smaller than the iPhone. Apple hopes to cash in on the design success of the iPhone with their newest MP3 player, the iPod Touch.

The iPod Touch uses the same innovative touch-screen display as the iPhone. The Touch does lack built-in speakers, microphone, camera, and Bluetooth, all of which are present in the iPhone. You will still get Wi-Fi capabilities for Internet use, video playback, and of course iTunes. One nice new feature of the iPod Touch is the ability to connect the player directly to a television for photo or video viewing.

You can expect to get the same great quality sound from this iPod as you did from its predecessors. This iPod is currently available in either an 8 GB or 16 GB model. These models will set you back $299 and $399 respectively.

All in all, the new iPod Touch is great addition to the iPod lineup. It has the same great interface as the iPhone, and it is only slightly larger than the classic iPod. Videos look very smooth at 30 frames per second, and sound quality is up to par. These new iPod Touch MP3 players will most likely be flying off the retail shelves for the upcoming holiday season.
