The Luggage Weighing Handle: No Scale Required

Have you ever had to remove some of your belongings from your luggage during check-in for a flight?  It's not a pleasant task, particularly since you may have to say a permanent goodbye to some your possessions just to lighten your load.  A new concept developed by French designer Selma Durand will help you weigh your baggage at home, easily and accurately, without having to place it on a scale; it's a Weighing Handle!

As most airlines limit luggage weight to 23 kilos, about 55 pounds, the Weighing Handle very simply shows the weight of the bag between 20 and 23 kilos, 50 to 55 pounds.  If you are nearing the 23 kilo mark, you know you will need to remove some stuff!

Just lift the bag slightly off the ground and a spring within the handle mechanism will move the indicator to show whether its weight is above 20 or 23 kilos....

This very nifty Weighing Handle will be made to adapt to any luggage, so you won't have to go out and buy a whole new set.  Ms. Durand submitted her concept through the Designboom DIY submission page, which is a great way to get exposure for new designs and inventions.
