Magnetic Giant Isopod Plush Is A Pill Bug For What Ails You

Celebrate Japan's famous fasting Giant Isopod with this smaller, softer and slightly less creepy plush version from Hamee! The 370 yen ($3.60) plushie's real-life inspiration, housed at the Toba Aquarium in Mie Prefecture, scarfed down an entire Horse Mackerel way back in January of 2009. Since then, nada... and the critter has become somewhat of a national celebrity due to its astonishing chronic food fastidiousness.

Since plucking your very own pet Giant Isopod from the crushing ocean depths is slightly impractical for most of us, the nice folks at Hamee have created a cuddly replica that clings to your refrigerator door via an interior magnet. It'll cling to your heartstrings as well; no magnets required and like its uber-dieting buddy, it won't eat you out of house and home.

Who's Hamee, you ask? They were formerly Strapya World, fresh off a corporate re-branding and still dedicated with providing a wealth of trendy & topical toys, gadgets and assorted knick-knacks to online buyers worldwide. Hamee stands for “HAppy Mobile Easy E-commerce” if you were wondering, and we know you were.

Anyway, back to the plush Giant Isopod. It measures 6cm long by 4cm wide by 3cm high (2.4 x 1.6 x 1.3 inches), ideal for carrying in the palm of your hand. Its plush “skin” is tinted a warm dove gray with shiny round eyes... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. KAWAII!!
