"You REALLY wanna know what I'm thinking?..."
Looking for a holiday gift for the cat lover who has everything? Seek no further - Takara Tomy's "Meowlingual" Cat Translation Device, coming this November, will finally allow you to figure out what Puss'n'Boots' annoying purring and meowing really mean. That is, of course, if you really want to know... and Takara Tomy is betting that Japan's obsessed cat owners will be tearing off the plastic wrapper faster then kitty can shred an expensive sofa's arm.
"You mean... you haven't understood a thing I've said??"
The $75 Meowlingual Cat Translation Device comes in various colors and works fairly straightforwardly: just hold the cute cat-shaped gadget close to your purring pets head and wait for the audio translation. Among the stock phrases is "I can't stand it"... which might refer to the constant petting and stroking inflicted by overly attentive owners.

Of course, I'm assuming your cat has to purr in Japanese for the Meowlingual to work properly... or maybe YOU have to understand Japanese to translate the announcements from the Meowlingual. Maybe you need a "Humanlingual" to make sense out of it all - Takara Tomy, are you listening?? (c/o Weird Asia News via BBC)

True Cat Lovers...or even attentive owners...
Submitted on September 13th, 2007 by Anonymous Kitty Katz (not verified)don't need a device to help interpret what mood their cats are in. The devices also can't "read" the cat's body language (which often makes the cat's feelings quite apparent). I COULD be wrong, but I think my cats would prefer that I continue to buy them Fancy Feast and deli turkey breast instead of spending--wasting--$75 on that silly contraption.
a device for all cultures

Gah I mean the comment about Vietnam
Submitted on September 16th, 2007 by Jenn (not verified)(I wish that one could edit the comments..oh well) My family doesn't cat or dog, in fact my friends and family that are Vietnamese do not eat domesticated animals. You have no idea how insulted I feel. Please try not to make such comments next time.
The reality is different to what we would like
Submitted on September 17th, 2007 by Casual Adventurer (not verified)The truth is many people in Vietnam eat dogs and cats and many people enjoy this food. Why do you choose to insult them? Many people in other countries, eat cows, pigs and chickens...... This is a fact.
Now there is huge issues relating to abhorently cruel treatment of livestock in some countries. Vietnam still has much to do in this area, and not just for the animals. If people learn more about the care of animals, improving their health, and living conditions. They will in turn generate more income from livestock and be able to invest in things such as the health and education of their own families.
I live in Vietnam and personaly I'm all for eating cats..... Cows are far more useful. Have you ever ploughed a field by hand? A cow makes it much easier.......... I think cows are a fine useful companion animal.

Most of the cats I've known
Submitted on March 1st, 2008 by AnonymousMost of the cats I've known would only need two words, the second of which being "off".
(Note to people preaching at whoever told the cat-eating joke: You do not have a right to not be offended ^_^)
