MOD Duo Wants To Be The Last Music Pedal You Ever Own

What if I were to tell you that there was a music pedal out there that could reproduce an unlimited amount of sounds and music effects? Then, what if I were to tell you that the entire thing is open-sourced, meaning developers all over the world can develop effects for that same pedal? Sound like something you would be interested in? If so, make sure to check out the MOD Duo which is currently being funded on Kickstarter!

The MOD (Musical Operating Device) Duo is a true pedal system that is 100% software controlled. This means that with "plugins" musicians can have an endless flow of variations and sounds to alter the sound of their guitar.

Foot pedals can take a lot of abuse during a heavy set, and protecting the internals is very important. MOD Duo appears to do a fantastic job with protection, using a sturdy metal enclosure to protect the hardware. One thing that is slightly disappointing to see is that the MOD Duo only includes two footswitches on the case. With endless effects available at your fingertips (toetips?), it would have been nice to see at least double the amount of footswitches. There is an extender piece that will be available for the Duo, as well, but I would have preferred to see it out of the box.

What is that you're saying? That this thing seems pretty intriguing, but you don't play guitar? Well, since independent developers can produce their own plugins for the MOD Duo, there are plenty out there for a multitude of other instruments, as well. The MOD Duo already has a developer community from a previous product, and developers have already begun creating plugins for the Duo even though it’s still in the Kickstarter phase. This means that once it releases to the public there will already be a healthy amount of plugins to start experimenting with.
