If you spend a lot of time on a motorcycle, then this is something you definitely want to know about. Up until recently, nobody ever thought twice about it, but there’s a chance your motorcycle is giving your nads cancer — if you’re a man, obviously. If you’re a woman, you’re possibly putting yourself at risk for a variety of reproductive cancers as well. All of this stems from low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF EMF) radiations that motorcycles emit. Millions of motorcycles generate excessive ELF EMF magnetic radiation up through the seat penetrating directly into the rider's groin and torso.

Cancer Risks

A dedicated rider by the name of Randall Dale Chipkar from Canada has been researching the phenomenon, and a while back he was granted a patent in the U.K. for an innovative invention of his known as an ELF EMF shielding motorcycle seat. Chipkar’s invention is designed to shield riders from motorcycle ELF EMF magnetic field radiation in order to keep them from penetrating vital organs. It's important to bear in mind that many major organizations now agree that ELF EMF magnetic fields are a possible carcinogen.

Risks of Riding a Motorcycle

There are plenty of risks to riding a motorcycle, but the motorcycle itself shouldn’t be one of them. For a lot of people, riding a motorcycle is there main source of transportation. This is particularly true in underdeveloped countries where they are the sole source of transportation for millions, especially in many Asian nations. It isn’t a matter of just wanting to hit the open road on two wheels and feeling the wind in your face there. Vehicles on two wheels are more economically feasible and make it easier to navigate congested roadways and traffic.

Motorcycle Safety

Speaking of wheels, spinning steel-belted radial motorcycle tires can also generate ELF magnetic fields. Although the fields are not of electrical origin, exposure is relevant, especially at highway speeds. So, it isn’t just the oscillating-current electrical systems on motorcycles that can generate excessive ELF EMF radiation that penetrates through various metals and elements such as tin and aluminum. While manufacturers are not building seats with built-in protection as of yet, Chipkar’s invention can be fitted to a seat to prevent the radiation from reaching the unprotected nether regions of riders.

The Motorcycle Cancer Book

Information contained in Chipkar’s press release in relation to the book he’s written on the subject states, “Non-ionizing, non-thermal ELF EMF magnetic fields are linked to adverse ion/electron bio-effects that include the disruption and suppression of melatonin — our body’s cancer-growth inhibiting hormone. It’s not just about cancers. Countless health conditions occur from melatonin compromise.” The thing is, when you ask other riders if they’ve ever heard any of this, most of them say no. Those that have heard rumblings of it were not aware of the extent of the problem.

Motorcycle Seat Shields

According to Chipkar, "ELF EMF magnetic fields penetrate through steel and even lead. Only highly processed material can dramatically shield us from these cancer-controversial forces. With patent protection, we can now aggressively market innovative internally shielded motorcycle seats to help protect riders within the groin area. The prostate is of major concern as it is one of the closest delicate glands invaded by the radiation. The colon and neighboring organs are also at risk.” But where are the seats or even the shields to retro fit a seat with? In other words, who’s doing what about this besides Randall Chipkar raising the red flag and sounding the alarm bell?

Motorcycling Industry

After contacting Chipkar personally and inquiring as to whether any of the leaders in the motorcycle industry were employing his patented shield yet, his reply was unfortunately, “No.” He stated that the alloy is currently unavailable at this time, and went on to note, “We have now taken the road of encouraging the motorcycle industry to protect consumers at the bike manufacturing level. Some fields are extremely encompassing and ubiquitous as shown in the video. I developed the petition to bring this issue to the attention of the industry. People can sign the petition (anonymous if they prefer) and say a few words about this rider health concern.”

Motorcycle Cancer Risk Petition

Riders who are interested in signing the petition can join the ranks of other concerned motorcyclists in trying to promote change within the industry itself.  Chipkar had this to say concerning the petition and what it’s trying to accomplish, “The comments already posted are effective (from around the world) and it all makes a difference. We feel that the petition and comments will become a part of history for establishing rider health safety worldwide. The petition goal is motorcycle industry rational ELF EMF emission regulations and bike labeling to protect riders.” If this is something that resonates with you, take the time to sign it and improve motorcycle safety for everyone.
