Multi-Functional Massage Device: Great Idea?

Patent #US 6802818, also known as the Multi-Functional Massage Device, dared to enter the world in 2004. An attempt to accomodate the modern lifestyle where exercising is relegated to the same priority as filing tax returns and attending to root canals, this massager, which doubles as a pen, is a conventional and acceptable means of massage to relieve the physical pains brought on by non-exercise.(?)

This device comes in a casing/body, within which there is a vibrating motor. A conductive column is electrically connected to one electrode of the vibration motor and this element has a collar, a cap, a ring, and a conductive spring. The battery is further electrically connected to the casing. After that, I am fraid that you are on your own.

Down through the years, other inventors have attempted to create simulated massages and/or machines to do them effectively. Consider Elizabeth Valeri’s amusing piece, “Robotic Massage Hand” and the more general article about the foibles of the inventing process by Myra Per-Lee, “10 Top Tips For Branding Your Invention."

As far as the Multi Functional Massage Device goes, I would prefer to let sleeping pens lie, or something like that.

Take a chance. Do just one thing at a time. Nothing will happen to you and that way, you will always know where your pen has been at all times.
