It's been a while since we've seen a brand new extreme sport that we could really get into. And it looks like it's going to continue to be a while still. However, rope jumping, a new extreme activity straight from the bridges of Russia, is sure worth watching from afar. Like any outlandish stunt, you can't help but to stare in awe.
Take a piece of standard climbing rope without the cushy, springy comfort of a bungee, anchor it underneath the bridge while throwing a prayer up to the big guy, tie in, and leap of the bridge. Now hope that your form is flawless so that you don't snap violently when you hit rope end (remember, no elastic here) and swing in a perfect arch under the bridge. Not quite crazy or thrilling enough? Try roping in with another 20 of your closest buddies and doing it all over again, in unison. That should get the adrenaline (and fear of God) flowing.
I don't think this will be seen at any corporate team-building retreats anytime soon, or much of anywhere else for that matter. Though, you do have to admit--it's like an accident scene, you can't help but look, even though it's likely to end bad. Looks like the Russians officially and decidedly replace our friends from down under as the craziest SOBs on the planet.
