If you have ever been to New York City, chances are you have either been in or around at least a handful of the iconic yellow Taxi Cabs that blanket the city. If the New York Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) have their way, that color may be the only thing a new generation of Taxis have in common with the ones in use today.
UniCab Concept
The search began back in 2006, when the New York TLC announced a search for a new taxi that would better fit the needs of today's passengers. They created a website that outlined the requirements and expectations for the "Taxi of Tomorrow" and let designers go wild.
One of the more recent submissions that is receiving some attention is the UniCab. The design features seating for four adults and is also equipped with a fully automated ramp that extends from the side of the vehicle to make ingress and egress easier for those with disabilities.
A fully integrated infotainment system is available to keep you connected while you are riding, or offer points of interest along the route to your destination. If you prefer to relax while underway, large windows in nearly every direction make it easy to kick back and enjoy the sights.

The UniCab is still in the design process and may never make it past a computer generated concept, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
