When does an octopus have only three legs? Well, when it has an accident or... when it's the Octopus Tripod from Japan's Strapya World. This seeming lack of appendagesĀ poses no problems, however, as the tripod bends to your will while holding onto your phone or cam at one end and pretty much anything else at the other end.
The Octopus Tripod is made of durable black ABS plastic accented with your choice of blue, green, pink, yellow or gray. It'll hold a cell phone or digital camera weighing up to 350 grams (about 12.5 oz.) but what's really neat is HOW it holds them.

The designers have gone for maximum flexibility to accommodate as many different types of cameras and phones as possible. Cell phones are gripped with a three-pronged, spring-loaded vise; digital cameras attach either by a 0.6cm diameter screw or via a handy slide deck.
The Octopus Tripod retails for 1,980 yen (about $21) at Strapya's website - color availability varies so check the site before you order.

Gorillapod Ripoff?
How is this product any different than the "Gorillapod" by Joby?

Gorillapod - cams only
Seems like the Gorillapod (by Joby) is similar but less versatile. Mainly, it's equipped to hold SLR-type cameras & camcorders. It doesn't come with the spring-loaded gripper for cellphones.

@ Steve
Not entirely true, the Gorilla Mobile does exactly that, and it looks as if the finish is also a little better.
Even has a suction pad for items not shaped in the regular way (e.g. iphone)

Digidudes-portable camera tripod.
It looks an impressive one to have. I have a doubt about its capability to perform with digicams. But still it looks very attractive so i would like to buy it for its looks only.
