There are many businesses all about upcycling
these days, giving new life to clothing and other reusable items. Well,
sometimes all it takes for a new concept to get noticed is a little
twist on an old idea, and the word "charity" helps, too!
One Noffs already makes a name for themselves with...well, their funny name that seems nonsensical but actually has great meaning! They're a charity clothing store that takes in donations, but inside of simply putting those things on racks to sell for the change you find in your couch, they're giving the items new life. Designers can come into the shop, pick out one or more clothing items to recreate and turn their pieces into new works of art at home, or using the shops sewing machines. Once complete, items are put up for sale in the shop and 80% of revenues go to charity (20% for designers).
One Noffs is run by the Ted Noffs foundation which tries to help kids stay out of trouble and overcome alcohol and drug challenges.
