Creative consultant and designer, Alberto Caramello decided just last year to open his own business in Turin, Italy; Caramello calls his company DOT, short for Design Oriented Household. He creates designs in small production series, ones that challenge our understanding and our expectations of what objects should be or look like.
One of his clever and very elegant designs is the Unvase, an ebony and white glazed ceramic pair of atypically-shaped vases that look more like bookends, except when they are placed next to each other with a few inches of space between them, they create the illusion of a vase... in a familiar shape.

The Unvase is matte finished which accentuates the vase form. Each piece is fired four times and is hand painted. Unvase is available for sale at DOT.
