For the past 5 years, Peugeot has held a design contest that gives young designers a chance to produce a concept for a large company. This year the theme was "imagine the Peugeot in the worldwide megalopolis of tomorrow," and the winner has been chosen.
The contest brought in a total 2,500 entries out of which 29 finalists were selected. Those 29 were examined more closely and eventually a winner was chosen. The top design was the work of Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar, a 25-year-old designer from Colombia. He was selected by both the internet polls and the competition judges.
His 3-wheeled design is called the RD and like most of the other entries, it is small and made for driving on narrow roads. During periods of heavy traffic or when space is limited, it can fold upward and shorten the overall length by a substantial amount.
The prize for winning the contest starts at 10,000 Euros, but the real prize is when Arturo will get to see a life sized replica of his design displayed at next year's Shanghai Auto Show.
