Rain Man: The Most Refreshing Wine Decanter Ever!

Rain! It's so refreshing! It brings life and health to all of nature. What more fitting a tribute to rain than this elegant vessel for pouring wine in small smooth streams?

The vessel is a wine decanter called the Rain Man, designed by Swedish designer, Matilda Sundén Ringnér, for Skruf Glasbruk. But, of course, you can use the Rain Man to pour your own favorite beverage.

And yes, you can even water your plants with Rain Man!

If my family is reading this column, the Rain Man just became number one on my wish list for holiday gifts! Available at Deskstore.

Rainman

My only qualm with this little device concerns how the liquid enters the product (rainman). Obviously you must pour whatever liquid you are going to use into the glass container....but then why pour twice? If you must pour your wine, for example, into this device just to pour it out again into a glass it is completely unnecessary. If the only reason why this device is worthwhile is because it pours liquid out like rain, then invent a cap to put onto a wine bottle that allows for multiple streams. This way you only pour once and you get the neat rain effect.

The purpose of a wine decanter

A wine decanter allows wine, particularly red wine, to "breathe" and to allow the scent of certain sediments that have collected in the bottle to escape.

Red wine should be poured from its bottle to a wider bottle to expose it to the air. Then, many red wines are poured into an even wider glass for greater air exposure.

There are many good sources on decanting. Here is a quick reference.
