Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 Video Game Preview

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is a tactical First Person Shooter coming out on PC, Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 on March 18th, 2008 (in North America). In the original Rainbow Six: Vegas, the player controlled a member, Logan Keller, of an elite anti-terrorist group called Rainbow Six. In Vegas 2, the player will create a member of the elite group from the ground up to experience the campaign. The member that the player creates is both more experienced than Keller, and is more involved with the backdrop and story. The game's story begins before that of Rainbow Six: Vegas, and ends some time after the conclusion of the first game, giving the game both a "sequel" and "prequel" status.

Developers of the series have said that on top of all the powerful and realistic weapons that were included in the first Rainbow Six: Vegas, they will be adding 11 new weapons. The online play will include all the gameplay modes from the first game, in addition to two new game modes, and will include a total of 13 multiplayer maps. For those that aren't a fan of online competitive play, the campaign is also fully compatible with a second player, making it the first fully-coop Rainbow Six game to date. Previous iterations left out cut scenes and main sections of the story during coop, but in Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 the two players that are participating in coop will experience the complete story and feel from the single player campaign.

This sequel to Rainbow Six: Vegas looks action packed, and could be a strong contender for the attention of competitive online players that are currently playing hot titles from last year (Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4). Despite the fact that the game is very similar in functionality, look, and feel to the first Vegas game, it still is sure to be a solid shooter and online gaming experience. Whether or not members of the gaming community will embrace this near clone of the first version is still a question, but one thing is for sure: 2008 is now clearly under way, with big name titles like Turning Point: Fall of Liberty , Army of Two , and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 all coming out around the same time. Look forward to more new, exciting titles to be released in the coming months.
