Reducing Carbon Footprints, LED Luminaires Glow At Awards

Light Emitting Diodes have their own competitions now that they are the "hottest" way to present lighting design. The Strategies in Light conference announced the winners of the LED Next Generation Luminaires™ competition this week in Santa Clara, CA.

Sixty-eight entries from 29 lighting companies were submitted to the LED competition and 22 were given "special recognition" in the market-ready category. Of those, three entries were chosen as Best In Class...

GE Lighting was selected for its Immersion™ jewelry case lighting;

Journée Lighting for its AZARA track-mounted luminaires;

And Winona Lighting for its STEP03 indoor/outdoor step lighting;

Among the other special recognition LEDs were several downlights, or recessed lighting designs, as well as more track lighting designs.

The Luminaire Awards were sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the International Association of Lighting Designers. The competition is designed to recognize and to promote the use and acceptance of well-designed, energy efficient, and attractive commercial lighting designs.
