Reusable Style Snaps Allow For Quick, No Stitch Hem Changes
I am a big fan of beauty/style shows. I watch them religiously and have heard them mention countless times that no one can walk into a store and buy a pair of pants that will just fit perfectly. While I understand that there is no one size fits all, I wish that every once in a while I would come across a pair that didn’t need hemming. At 5’ 5’’ I am not super short, but certainly not tall either. I hate to hem pants and usually am either too cheap or too lazy to take them somewhere to be done, so I often walk around with my pant legs dragging on the ground. This is okay for jeans, but when you have just picked up a nice pair of pants for a special event you want them to look polished.
Style Snaps are a product that claims to offer a simple, no sewing, no gluing solution to your hemming woes. These reusable adhesive snaps can be used to change hem length over and over. You stick one side of the snaps to the bottom of your hem and the other to the point inside that you want them hemmed up to. You then snap the two portions together and you have your new length. I am sure they take some practice, but so does properly stitching your pants; I think I would rather learn this.
These clever little beauty gadgets are also said to be good for holding down lapels, securing belt ends, closing gaps between shirt buttons, etc. I am not sure how long the adhesive on the backs of them lasts, but the site says that once the snap is taken off and the fabric residue is removed it can be cleaned with dishwashing soap and water and will be sticky again once dry. This sounds like a super handy little product for non-sewers like me. Plus, parents could save money by buying long pants for their kids and letting the hem down as they grow. You can find Style Snaps here on Amazon and most major retailers.
