So picture this: you're on an off-site assignment for work and the supplier you're meeting with tells you that their samples cannot be brought out of the office. However, you are free to take a picture or make a copy of it to show your boss. It makes zero sense to lug around your bulky and often heavy duty scanner around because, really, no one does that. Not to mention the fact that you need to hook it up to a computer or laptop in order to make it work is really anything but practical.
You never know when you might need to scan something and that's where the Visioneer Mobility Scanner comes in. It's handy, it's light, and the best part about it is that you don't need a computer in order to begin scanning your photos and documents.
The Visioneer Mobility Scanner works like so: simply turn on the device, select your desired output file (either color PDF, black and white PDF, or a colored jpeg image file), feed in your document, and you're all set. It's quick too; it only takes about 10 seconds for the device to scan a 300 dpi document from start to finish.
The scanned files will be saved on the SD memory card or on a USB flash drive plugged into the Visioneer Mobility Scanner. Sure, portable scanners aren't exactly new to the scene, but what sets the Visioneer apart is that you can actually view the scanned documents by connecting the scanner to your smartphone via the USB cable that comes with your phone. This beats the hassle of having to go back and do another scan of the document when you discover that the scans are unusable or of low quality when you finally get the chance to review the images on your desktop.
A cool feature of the Visioneer Mobility Scanner is the AutoLaunch technology, which, when activated, begins scanning as soon as you insert your documents into the scanner. You can also opt to install the Eye-Fi card add-on to the scanner so you can wirelessly transfer the scanned files to your desktop or laptop, and send the images off to to file storage and sharing sites on the internet, such as Picasa, MobileMe, Evernote, and Facebook.
