Anyone who has children knows how difficult it can be to find the right caregiver, who is responsible, reliable and a good personality match for the whole family. Placement agencies are common to help parents find a sitter, but the process of interviewing can be time consuming and tedious. Sitter Soirees of Tampa, Florida uses an already trendy form of matchmaking, and introduces it to the babysitting industry. Consider their services speed dating for childcare.
Sitter Soirees makes the selection process fun and easy for parents; by personally interviewing and completing reference checks upon each and every one of the college students that they hold in their ranks before introducing them to prospective clients. Then, instead of sending them over to meet the families in their homes; would-be babysitters who pass the screening are invited to an event to connect with parents.
The Soirees take place every month at hip Tampa locations, often local spas or boutiques. 10-15 sitters are usually invited to meet with about 15 people in seek of childcare. Everyone in attendance has the opportunity to shop at the venue with a discount ranging from 10% to 25% and feast on the snacks and beverages offered; sitters at no cost and parents for a $60 USD fee for each event.
At the beginning of each Soiree, parents receive a Savvy Sitter Guide which includes advice, as well as local emergency information and phone numbers. Also included in this guide are resumes, photos, contact information, and references for each sitter participating in the event. Everyone is then offered the opportunity to get to know each other and see if matches might be made. That way, the next time families need a sitter for mom and dad's date night or to attend an adult's only event, they can pick up the phone and call any of the sitters they met and liked from the Sitter Soiree.
Sitter Soirees also offers more typical babysitting connection services with their Personal Sitter Soirees; for $150 they will send over 5 sitters for a family to meet and interview without having to attend a group event.
While Sitter Soirees does help families make connections with prospective babysitters, it doesn't enforce the selection process or hourly babysitting charges. While it does recommend that pay for the sitters start at $10 per hour, it's happy to take away it's fee and let people establish rates that satisfy that babysitters and fit their budgets.
Hey, living someone with your kid is a big commitment, so why not approach it as you would a long-term relationship?
